is seeking to add an AV Control Systems Programmer to join our team.
This position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the control system development and implementation to include but not limited to, writing code for program control systems used in audio/video solutions within the commercial, government, educational and residential arena utilizing AV best practices standards, templates, and methods.
Summary This position will work with design, account managers and clients on presales recommendations and requirements of custom control system design based on the customer's needs.
As well as provide high end products/services launching/commissioning customer deliverables timely/efficiently according to project timelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design and construct control system code and graphic screen layouts based upon engineering designs, build to and customer requirements Participate in process of prototype build-out, testing and release Troubleshoot new and legacy systems, hardware cabling and components Integrate third-party hardware/software solutions when needed Create, execute and revise project plans to meet changing needs.
Formulate timelines and control documents for design history file Ensure project documents are complete and stored appropriately Interface with external/internal clients and manufacturers/vendors Program, install, test and support control systems, both on-site and remotely, with possible travel outside city/state of local office Deliver projects assigned including communication management, schedule management, source control, and documentation.
Regularly reporting to manager on the status of all projects Contribute to the ongoing development of company standards and methodology Understand and possible assist with the installation of structured cabling to include pulling, terminating and testing cat5e/6, video, RGB, HDMI, DVI and audio cables if needed Understand and assist with the installation of AV control system equipment hardware to include: audio and video conferencing equipment, distributed audio, digital signage, sound reinforcement, and all presentation systems if needed Identify and solve issues that will impact the project Provide effective communication by supplying daily updates to project team Ensure that project deliverables and milestones are met including close out documentation and punch list items Complete installation of software/control system needs of client systems in the most efficient and effective manner to assure timely completion and maximum performance Ensure all installations meet the highest quality standards set forth while assuming a professional environment at all times on/off site Perform quality control/check on finished product/projects including testing and presentation training to clients Perform post project walkthrough with client if needed Responsible for returning product(s) to warehouse in the event of RMA/DOA issues Assist in supporting technicians with onsite training endeavors Follow all safety guidelines of Data Projections and client requirements.
Perform other job related duties or special projects as assigned Education and or Experience Requirements Minimum high school diploma - bachelor degree preferred in computer systems engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or similar arena.
Must have or working towards an AMX or Crestron highest level certification.
Candidates must have prior experience writing/creating/implementation of control systems.
Preferably within the corporate, government, K-12 and higher education and videoconferencing arena.
Additional 2+ years experience with a higher level object-oriented programming language a plus.
Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
Applicants should be prepared to discuss and provide examples of completed projects along with references.
CTS certification or Cedia equivalent.
Additional certifications by manufacturer or product a plus.
Qualifications Ability to think and work independently Experience working with various control methods and protocols (TCP/IP, RS232, etc.
) Audio/video hobbyist Touch panel layout and design experience Solid knowledge of audio/visual connectivity and signal flow Understanding programming cause/effect impact on overall audio/visual systems Ability to maintain program version control and adhere to configuration management Experience reading wiring diagrams and system design drawings Strong system evaluation, system testing, documentation and reporting skills Ability to manage multiple priorities with flexibility in a fast-paced environment Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Understand and possible use of wiring and termination skills as well as proper/safe installation techniques of all AV equipment Ability to demonstrate planning, organizing and implementing skills which allow the successful completion of a project by a specific due date Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Experience in reading/understanding architecture, electrical, structural and AV systems drawings A teachable disposition and a willing attitude towards continuing education Flexibility to work outside the job description when the need arises Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Ability to oversee daily projects Analytical and problem-solving/troubleshoot Deductive reasoning skills PC and network knowledge Self-starter with keen attention to detail Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment Possible out of town projects requiring hotel/multiple overnight trips Ability to work day, evening or weekend shifts Must be able to work cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment Must have reliable transportation Must be able to pass background check and pre-employment screening Physical Requirements Sitting, standing, stooping and bending for long or extended periods of time.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools and to handle other office equipment.
Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds) Ability to climb ladder, scaffolding or transported by lifts Ability to drive/operate a vehicle Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities daily/weekly/monthly may occur for short periods of time in a seasonal temperature-fluctuating environment.
