12, 2023 Program: Dallas / IAMD / LT-P3 / SUS OP CON Description:Perform Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportability (PHST) Engineering activities for the PAC-3 Sustainment Program in compliance with program and DOD requirements.
Packaging Engineer will be responsible to ensure all customer supplies, materials and equipment will be afforded an adequate degree of packaging to prevent deterioration and damage due to hazards of handling, storage and transportation throughout the Life Cycle of the Product.
Typical duties include: • Develop Special Packaging Instructions required as support documentation to obtain Initial Hazard Classification, procure or fabricate packaging, and execute packaging and shipment of hardware.
• Plan and conduct Performance Oriented Packaging Testing and Reporting.
Task includes preparing test plan, coordinating with testing facility, observing testing, gathering result data, and completing test report • Program Packaging Support.
Includes coordinating with shipping departments, working on identifying required packaging, interfacing with regulatory agencies, and supporting program packaging questions and meetings as required.
• Ensuring all Packaging, Handling and Storage (PHS) program/technical reviews are scheduled and conducted.
• Ensuring provisions for efficient and economical protection for all system materiel are defined.
• Develop initial packaging and packing required to ship system equipment to support test flights, ground tests, Logistic Demonstration and System Support Package requirements will be best commercial packaging utilizing procedures outlined in American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) D 3951.
Preservation and packaging methods and designs will be of minimum cost consistent with the protection required.
• Ensure all system hardware identified by System Safety as hazardous or dangerous materials will be packaged, packed, marked and labeled as required by Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations.
MFC maintains current copies of DOT regulations for all modes of shipment.
• Conducting analysis of handling equipment requirements to ensure adequate facilities and equipment for handling system hardware will be available at storage depots and installations that will handle system materiel.
Handling equipment requirements will be monitored throughout the program and every effort will be made to limit new requirements.
• Support Program efforts and coordinate with cross-functional teams to maintain long-term storage requirements to include part ESD/MSD identification, audit support for inspections, and re-packaging as required.
Basic Qualifications: • Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance • Packaging Engineering degree or a degree in a related field ( Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience) • Strong technical background • Mechanical Computer Aided Drawing (MCAD) skills • PTC Pro/E skills • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build effective working relationships and be able to work well in a team atmosphere • Be flexible with an outstanding work ethic and possess the ability to respond quickly to internal and external customer requirements • Candidate must be willing to travel as needed to support program requirements • Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, technical writing experience, and an ability to perform oral presentations in front of large groups Desired Skills: • Active Secret Clearance • Masters degree • Hazardous Materials transportation and shipping regulation knowledge • Familiar with Military specifications/standards • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) knowledge • Product Data Management software and workflow process familiarity Security Clearance Statement:This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
