Forestar Group is currently looking for a BI Developer-FG.
The right candidate will be responsible for defining, developing, testing, analyzing, and maintaining both new and existing BI applications in support of the achievement of business requirements.
This will include writing, coding, testing, and analyzing BI programs and applications.
The BI Developer will also research, design, document, and modify BI applications throughout the production life cycle Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Design and develop interactive reporting dashboards using Microsoft Power BI (PBI) Write DAX calculations independently as part the PBI dashboard development Update and maintain the existing PBI dashboards and data models already in use Update and maintain existing corporate templates in Microsoft Excel Meet with internal stakeholders to determine BI Reporting needs and translate those requests into a clearly defined scope of work and action items Manage process and documentation for maintaining change control protocols on all reports and datasets Work in Azure DevOps (ADO) to track tasks, progress, questions, bugs, testing results, etc.
Train end users on navigating various BI reports and dashboards Answer questions and investigate potential bugs/system errors from end users Set up new users with access to BI applications Conduct thorough testing of new systems or features and document the results Participate in the overall design, customization, development, and deployment of new applications Document existing system architecture for BI applications for use in troubleshooting and training Help support end users with custom Dynamics 365 (D365) application, including feedback on bugs or new features, testing (and documenting) specific functionality in non-production environments, etc.
Work independently on assigned tasks to completion, correctly and in assigned time Accurately estimate the time required to complete a given task Prioritize assigned tasks and complete them efficiently Simplify highly technical language and complex information into layman’s terms for end users Understand key business operations and how end users will utilize BI reports and dashboards Automate technical processes Maintain current expertise with rapidly changing technology Adopt and become proficient in approved modern technologies Assist in the creation and maintenance of application orientation and training materials Log and document issues and resolution in the remedy tracking system Provide backup in the absence of Director of Corporate Applications; have knowledge and ability to troubleshoot critical apps when called upon Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company Ability to work weekends Ability to travel overnight Qualifications Required Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 3+ years of experience with data analysis and application development Experience with Microsoft Power BI, including Power Query and DAX Extremely proficient with Microsoft Excel, including VBA/Macros, External Data Connections, etc.
Previous experience with or knowledge of quality assurance testing Ability to quickly learn new IT systems and applications Possess excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills with the ability to communicate effectively with other employees with varying levels of IT experience Ability to work in a team-oriented environment Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided Proficiency with MS Office and email Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision The noise level is generally moderate Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Business Analysis or Mathematics preferred Experience using Azure DevOps (ADO) for software development preferred Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (D365) preferred Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) preferred Basic SQL coding knowledge and experience preferred Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and/or creating Paginated Reports preferred Come join a winning team!
