The Global Network Management Team is seeking motivated and driven engineers to support management of Verizon’s Intelligent Edge Network encompassing Unified Transport, NGPON2, Multi-Service Edge, Base Network Controller, IP Routing, and Converged Core technologies.
You will provide surveillance/maintenance and DevOps support for Verizon’s Global Transport (Layer 0, 1 and 2) networks.
You will conduct alarm monitoring, outage management, maintenance scheduling and provide technical assistance to Field Operations on the repair of global transport platforms.
You will also be responsible for monitoring the implementation of transport network change control activities and performing pre/post technology checks.
Handling phone calls to respond to network alarms and events for proactive network monitoring.
Managing Trouble Tickets, Outage communications, and process issues for internal and external customers.
Generating, driving, and updating Trouble Tickets via internal ticketing system.
Performing fault isolation, triaging, and repairing network events to ensure the health of our network.
Working with external and internal Verizon organizations to coordinate and fix network events.
Providing network technical assistance to external teams by communicating technical details to customer service centers, technical support organizations, and executive management teams during network events and major outages.
Improve automation through scripting and robotics process automation (RPA) to improve team functions and efficiency.

You’ll need to have: Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or of the Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 2-2024.
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Knowledge of TCP/IP.
Experience with Python scripting.
Experience driving automation initiatives and process improvements.
Willingness to work flexible hours including night shift work with dayshift hours as needed to support project requirements, and serve as part of a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Even better if you have one or more of the following: A degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science or Electronics.
Three or more years of experience in Network Operations.
Knowledge of IP telecommunication equipment and technologies (Cisco, Juniper, Adtran, Calix).
Knowledge of routing protocols (MPLS, LDP, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF), cloud computing and virtualization.
Knowledge of specialized telecommunications equipment (Ciena 6500T/S, & Cisco) and technologies.
Knowledge of optical DWDM system & optical distribution network (GPON).
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment while multitasking.
